Christy-Anne Strike, born and raised in Châteauguay, Quebec, was a rising star in Canadian equestrian sports. From an early age, she displayed an extraordinary bond with horses, earning accolades as an English equestrian rider on the national stage. Known for her impeccable technique and fierce determination, Christy-Anne had her sights set on competing internationally and establishing herself among Canada’s elite equestrians. However, her bright future was abruptly altered in 1988 when a tragic training accident involving her horse, Grand Blanc, left her with life-altering injuries. Crushed ribs and thoracic vertebrae not only ended her competitive career but also plunged her into a world of chronic pain and uncertainty.
Despite the devastating physical and emotional toll of her injuries, Christy-Anne demonstrated remarkable resilience. With an unyielding spirit, she embarked on an intense journey of rehabilitation, defying doctors' expectations and regaining mobility against the odds. Refusing to let pain dictate her life, she discovered solace and purpose in writing and art. These creative outlets not only aided her personal healing but also enabled her to connect with others through her powerful storytelling and evocative artwork. Christy-Anne’s work, much of it inspired by her deep love of horses and the natural world, reflects her journey of transformation and renewal.
Now an accomplished artist, motivational speaker, and advocate, Christy-Anne Strike uses her platform to inspire others living with chronic pain and disabilities. Her upcoming book, Striking Back, chronicles her extraordinary story of survival, perseverance, and the rediscovery of joy and purpose after unimaginable adversity. Through her words and actions, Christy-Anne continues to remind us that even in the face of immense challenges, the human spirit is capable of incredible strength, adaptability, and growth.
